Generations of children have grown up reading Ladybird books since the first title Bunnikin’s Picnic Party was published in 1940.

And now all ages can revisit their youth with new exhibition A Ladybird Childhood at Maidstone Museum, displaying original illustrations from the popular titles.

It is running from Saturday, January 11 to Sunday, May 11, and admission is free.

The museum is open from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and from noon to 4pm on Sundays from April.

The museum will be holding storytelling events for children every Friday during the exhibition.

Each session will take place from 10.30am to 11.30am and include a reading of a Ladybird book followed by a related craft activity.

Admission is priced £3.50 per child.
