Chase and Marshall from Nickelodeon came to Spa Valley Railway, Tunbridge Wells

The rocky rift that accompanies ‘Paw Patrol, Paw Patrol, we’ll be there at the double’ can be heard during most early mornings in our household.

So when I announced to my three and two-year-old that they’d meet Chase and Marshall from the rescue gang, there was plenty of excitement ahead of our trip to Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells.

The Paws were going to be a part of a special weekend that would see children be able to meet the heroes.

For two days, hundreds of children, parents and grandparents from across the county were treated to a trip on the historic line and there was plenty of fun along the way too.

The trips were well spaced, with no clambering for seats and there were lots of opportunities to explore the train itself, which was steeped in nostalgia. We managed to get a lovely booth in the dining carriage.

It had been immaculately kept, and the atmosphere it created meant that we could have been travelling to the seaside in the 1960s, rather than heading to meet a futuristic animal rescue team.

The four of us enjoyed the countryside whilst having our snacks.

There was even a free animal balloon for all the children, which was well received by our pups. Once we arrived, there wasn’t too much of a queue of Patrol fans, before we had our chance to meet the stars for a selfie.

Before heading back, there was a chance to have a look at the diesel engine’s carriage, and some face painting too.

It was a really lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The Spa Valley Railway will be doing Santa visits on the weekends on the lead up to Christmas in much the same way.

We’d definitely recommend it for a fun day out for all the family.
