04 August 2014
by Julia Collins

Michael McIntyre is the latest big comedy name to take to the stage in Margate.

The energetic hit comedian returns to the town with a work-in-progress show for his new stand-up tour Happy & Glorious.

He will play two nights at Margate’s Theatre Royal on Tuesday, September 30, and Thursday, October 2.

Pam Hardiman, Theatre Royal Margate’s programme manager, said: “This is a massive coup for Margate and I’m thrilled to be able to welcome such a star act to the lovely Theatre Royal. I’m sure he’ll enjoy his visit here as much as we do.”

Michael’s previous tour, Showtime, was the biggest-selling comedy tour in the world in 2012, playing to more than 640,000 people including a record-breaking ten-night residency at London’s O2 Arena matching the pop-superstar Rihanna’s 2011 record.

In 2013 he performed internationally, playing to sold-out arenas in South Africa, Dubai, Norway, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. His show in Johannesburg was the largest comedy show in Africa and his Dubai shows won the Time Out Best Night Out award.

He has also his debut as a chat show host on The Michael McIntyre’s Chat Show for BBC1 but now he is set to return to the stage in what promises to be his biggest and funniest tour yet.

Tickets for the show cost £22.50 and will go on sale to Friends of the Theatre at 9am on Monday, August 11, and on general sale at 9am on Tuesday, August 12. Telephone the box office on 01843 292795.
