Stage show Dinosaur Zoo made by Australian theatre company Erth

They make look ravenous but don’t worry, these Jurassic giants will play nicely – most of the time.

From cute dino babies to teeth-gnashing flesheaters, a show which brings dinosaurs out of the past and straight into the room with you is thundering in to Kent.

Dinosaur Zoo, made by Australian theatre company Erth, has created a range of puppets so lifelike you’ll feel like you’re meeting the real thing.

Children as young as three can go on stage and meet the prehistoric predators including the scariest of them all – the tyrannosaurus rex. The show is rounded off with a “meat and greet” session where children can help the zoo keeper when, hopefully they won’t become a dinosaur’s next meal!

The company has two puppeteers, Hal and Steve, working the magic, but as director Scott Wright said: “Yes it’s a real puppet, but thanks to the magic of theatre and people’s desire to suspend their disbelief, more often that not just two minutes after you announce that all the dinosaurs are puppets, people forget and continue on the journey.”

Erth specialises in eye-popping visual experiences, giant puppets and inflatable environments. Scott said: “Children worldwide love dinosaurs but one of the surprising things about the show is that adults get a real kick out of it too.

"Dinosaurs are awesome but they can also be big and scary.

“Most people’s experience of dinosaurs is based on inanimate objects in museums or in film or television, so by bringing our dinosaurs onto the stage we come one step closer to realising everybody’s dream of having these awesome creatures in our modern world.”
