The Wedding Singer, based on the hit film starring Adam Sandler, comes to Kent starring Ruth Madoc and TV stars

Hi-de-Hi star Ruth Madoc will lead an all-star cast in a new stage production of the hit Adam Sandler film, The Wedding Singer, in Kent this year.

Comedy veteran Ruth, who became a household name in the 80s as Gladys Pugh in the popular series, has more recently starred in ITV’s Benidorm, and will play Grandma Rosie in the show, which comes to three venues in the county.

Alongside her will be Nadia Forde, who appeared in I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and is well known for her television shows Nadia Goes To Hollywood and Nadia Chasing and Emmerdale star and Waterloo Road star Roxanne Pallett.

Jon Robyns stars as Robbie Hart, with Ray Quinn as Glen, who shot to fame as the runner-up in ITV1’s The X Factor in 2006 and who also won Dancing on Ice: Champion of Champions.

It’s 1985. Hair is huge, greed is good and rock star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favourite wedding singer. But when his own fiancée dumps him at the altar a cheesed-off Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own.

Can sweet natured Julia and her best friend Holly lure Robbie out of the dumpster and back into the limelight? Only Grandma Rosie seems to be able to see that Robbie and Julia are the couple that are meant to be.
