Little Mix at the Kent Event Centre

Fans have told of their frustration after being caught up in huge delays leaving the Little Mix show at Kent Event Centre.

Many say they were trapped in the car park for hours after the show ended, arriving home in the early hours of the morning.

Organisers had warned people to expect delays, and many fans left last night's show early to avoid delays.

Our reporter Katie Davis said: "Little Mix came on at 8.30 but people started flooding out at 9.15pm. They were literally running to their cars."

Right Guard Security, who were overseeing crowd management at the event, tweeted at 10pm: "Little Mix fans please be patient and expect delays at the concert in Kent, our parking teams will make every effort to direct you in and out as safely as possible."

One fan told KentOnline at 10.30pm: "The gig was brilliant, but since 9.50 we've been held by the traditional County Show turnstiles. People are moving forward but with nowhere to go, we're packed in like sardines.

"The crowd is chanting 'Let us out.' Grim."

And another concert-goer tweeted KentOnline to say: "Just experienced parents walking down Detling Hill carriageway with children, in the dark, in a live lane! Where are the police managing this?"

Fans took to the KentOnline Facebook page to talk of their experience.

Karen Whiskin said: "We were stuck by the bridge trying to walk through with no way of getting out and no one seemed to know what was happening then the car park was further trouble and didn't get out the car park until 12.35am!"

Gemma French added: "It took us 20mins to get from the crowd to car and then TWO hours to get out of the showground!"

Keely Phipps said: "Took me three hours to get out of the car park, I decided to sit and wait a while as every car was coming from every direction then the other exits were closed which lead to more delays because there was only one exit for the cars to go! Madness!"

Earlier, some fans who made it to the show reported parking problems, while one group were still on their way to the venue four hours after they set off.

They took to Twitter to report their concerns to the organisers after they spent two hours waiting at Maidstone bus station for the shuttle bus service which has so far taken an hour in sweltering heat to travel the five miles to the concert.

Nicole Loney wrote: "We opted to use your shuttle service to avoid traffic as advised by you. After two hours queuing at Maidstone bus station and nearly another hour sitting in traffic on your non air conditioned bus we are no closer."

She later added: "Very frustrating since we’ve been trying to get there for the past four hours. We are now missing the supporting acts. Hoping Arriva will have the sense to be more prepared when the event kicks out? We need all your buses, empty and available for people to get on."

Several other complaints were addressed to the centre, which responded by saying the importance of getting fans to the venue had been impressed on Arriva which had promised to provide 22 buses to address the issues.

KEC added: "Formal complaints will need to be addressed to Arriva as we did not organise the shuttle bus service."

To which Sarah Shore responded: "They will get plenty of formal complaints I'm sure!"
