Police release e-fit of arsonist who forced his way into home and set fire to rug in Clare Road, Whitstable

Detectives investigating an arson in Whitstable have released a new e-fit of a man they would like to speak to.

A woman in her late teens had opened her front door to an unknown man who forced his way into the house in Clare Road at 5.30pm on April 11.

He ran upstairs before coming back down set a rug alight in one of the rooms.

He left the house in the direction of Teynham Road before turning right towards the railway station.

He is described as a clean-shaven white man, 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build and is aged between 27 and 30.

He was wearing a dark or black jacket with a zip up the front, dark blue tracksuit bottoms, a dark brown baseball cap and grey plimsoles.

His nose is described as flat and he had a tattoo on his right hand with dots on each of his knuckles.

Investigating officer DC Guy Bourner said: "This incident was understandably quite frightening and we are keen to identify the suspect."
