Horse trapped neck-deep in dyke in Lucerne Drive, Seasalter near Whitstable

Rescuers used specialist equipment to free a horse that was trapped neck-deep in water and mud after slipping into a dyke.

Firefighters were called to the scene in Lucerne Drive, Seasalter after reports that the stricken animal was in severe distress.

Crews were able to spent around two hours freeing the mare and bringing her to dry land yesterday afternoon.
