Swalecliffe crash victim airlifted to hospital

A motorcyclist has been left fighting for life after a serious crash in Swalecliffe last night.

The 22-year-old biker was rushed to a London hospital in a critical condition after the smash in St John's Road.

It is thought his motorcycle crashed into a parked car shortly before 9.35pm.

Emergency crews attended and the road was shut off between Goodwin Avenue and Plough Lane.

Police diverted traffic until the scene was cleared and the road was reopened in the early hours of this morning.

A police spokesman said: "SECAMB attended and took the motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man to a hospital in London with serious injuries."
