Whitstable: Police close Old Thanet Way near Tesco after car overturns

Police have closed a main road in Whitstable after a car overturned near a supermarket this afternoon.

Emergency services are at the scene of the crash on the A2990 Old Thanet Way close to the Tesco supermarket. 

The road has been closed between the Tesco and Borstal Hill roundabouts following the incident.

A car had struck a lamppost on a traffic island and the road will remain closed until it is recovered.

Police officers, ambulance and fire crews attended the scene just after 2pm, but no injuries were reported.

Firefighters helped release a woman from the car, who was placed in the care of ambulance crews.
