Runaway horse causes delays on A299 at Whitstable

Rush hour drivers were forced to avoid a runaway horse on the A299 at Whitstable this evening.

The animal was spotted running down the coastbound side of the dual carriageway just before 5pm.

Drivers took evasive action, with traffic momentarily coming to a standstill.

The horse was recaptured by members of the public and taken to the side of the road.

It is not believed to have been injured.

Police were called but the horse was quickly captured and no officers went to the scene.
