Danny Smith, 22, charged with burglary with violence in Sydney Street, Whitstable

A man has been charged following a burglary in Whitstable in which two victims are said to have suffered facial injuries.

It is alleged to have happened at a house in Sydney Road, Whitstable, at around 7.40pm on Saturday where police received a report of occupants being threatened and forced to hand over cash.

Two people needed treatment by paramedics.

The following day, police received a separate report of a bag stolen from another house in the same street.

On Tuesday, Danny Smith, 22, of no fixed address was charged with burglary with violence, relating to the incident.

He was also charged with attempted burglary on the same date, also in Sydney Road and three counts of assaulting police officers in the execution of their duty relating to an incident in Whitstable.

Smith appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he was remanded in custody.

The case was adjourned to October 3 at Canterbury Crown Court.
