Whitstable: A teenager has been released after a cutting assault in Tankerton Road

A teenager has been released pending further inquiries after an alleged assault took place near the popular Whitstable regatta on Saturday.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested after two teenagers were taken to hospital with cuts. But, despite earlier reports, police confirmed the injuries were not consistent with a stabbing.

Officers and ambulance crews were called to Tankerton Road at 5.48pm on Saturday 9 September.

Police say they are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.
