Whitstable: A teenager has been released after a cutting assault in Tankerton Road

A teenager has been released pending further inquiries after an alleged assault took place near the popular Whitstable regatta on Saturday.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested  after two teenagers were taken to hospital with cuts. But, despite earlier reports,  police confirmed the injuries were not consistent with a stabbing.

Officers and ambulance crews were called to Tankerton Road at 5.48pm on Saturday 9 September.

Police  say they are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.

Enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to phone Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference number 09-1095.
