The first was shortly after 2pm yesterday when a black Honda motorbike collided with a white Vauxhall Astra Club van.

The biker was taken to hospital with a leg injury.

The second, at about 11.40am today, involved a white Toyota Yaris and a black Jaguar.

A woman driving the Yaris was seriously injured and taken to Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital.

Another motorist, who witnessed the aftermath of the second crash, said: “I'm not sure if the lights had anything to do with it but they’re so dangerous.

“I almost went into the back of a car myself.

“You come over the brow of the hill and are suddenly hit with this row of traffic backed up.

“I’m not surprised there have been accidents there."
