Whitstable Town make a belated return to The Belmont this weekend after going almost a month without a home league game.

The visit of Horsham on Saturday comes as a relief for joint-manager Danny Ward, whose side have played five of their last six games on the road.

Town, who are looking to end a three-game winless run, are back at The Belmont on Tuesday when Carshalton Athletic are the visitors.

Ward said: "We’ve had six away games and only three home games.

"We’ve already been to Hastings, Guernsey, Whyteleafe, Chipstead, Tooting & Mitcham and Redill - and they’re hard games every year."

Whitstable emerged from their latest trip to Tooting on Tuesday with a 1-1 draw after Kane Rowland’s late goal cancelled out Howard Newton’s 51st-minute opener.

That followed the Oystermen’s 4-0 thrashing against Hythe in the FA Cup first qualifying round on Saturday.

Ward said: "We went nine unbeaten, got beaten at Whyteleafe, which was a travesty, but Saturday was just pathetic. It wasn’t good enough and the players know that."

Scott Heard was thrown straight back into the Whitstable side on Tuesday, having only returned from a two-week trip to the United States the previous day.

Ollie Gray missed the game with an ankle injury which Ward fears could be ligament damage. Simon Pettit was working and Luke Girt pulled out with tonsillitis.
