A development of 80 homes is to be built near a primary school, if planning permission is granted.

The development in Hamstreet, near Ashford, would see a number of one to five-bedroom properties built later this year.

The estate will be developed on what is currently fields and woodland opposite Hamstreet Primary Academy.

It will fill the space between the train line to Hamstreet station, and the A2070.

The estate will be of benefit to the school, which will be able to use an outdoor classroom on the estate, as well as open space, a play area and a car park of up to 60 spaces.

The development will also also include a football pitch that can be used by both the school and community.

Of the 80 proposed properties, 32 have been designated as affordable homes.

The village is viewed as an excellent living option, being situated seven miles south of Ashford, and easily within reach of the rest of Kent and the South East via the M20.

Doug Law, regional land director at Vistry Kent, said: "These quality new-build homes will bring more much-needed affordable properties to Hamstreet, offering light and spacious layouts for modern living, for all types of home buyers.

“The one to five-bedroom properties will be from our latest homes collection, which are proving popular with all types of buyers including families.”
