A20 Maidstone Road in Ashford reopens following rush hour accident

An adult and child were injured in an earlier accident during rush hour.

The incident happened close to the approach of a busy roundabout at Sir John Fogge Avenue in Ashford, which closed both stretches of the A20 Maidstone Road.

Emergency services were dispatched to the incident and two patients, including an adult and a child, were assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to William Harvey Hospital.

The condition of both patients is not believed to be life-threatening.

The road has now reopened but motorists are being warned to expect delays while traffic clears.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a collision involving two vehicles at 8.11am on Wednesday 8 May 2019.

"Officers are attending the scene on the A20 Maidstone Road in Ashford near the junction with Sir John Fogge Avenue.

"Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance service are also in attendance.

"The road was closed for a short while for recovery but has since reopened."
