A 26-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Amanda Champion whose decomposed body was found on waste ground at South Willesborough, Ashford, in July.

James Phillip Ford, a factory worker, of Hunter Avenue, Willesborough, was remanded in custody when he appeared before magistrates at Canterbury.

Mr Ford will appear again at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday (October 10). He was arrested on Thursday and charged with the killing on Friday evening.

The body of Miss Champion, 21, was discovered in undergrowth on waste land near the Albion public house in Mead Road on July 26.
