DETECTIVES have released the last pictures of murdered Ashford woman Amanda Champion before her death (Louise Edwards writes).

CCTV footage shows 21-year-old Miss Champion entering South Willesborough post office in Mead Road, about a mile from her home.

Miss Champion’s body was discovered two weeks ago on a footpath near the Albion pub in South Willesborough. She went missing at the beginning of July.

The CCTV pictures are the last recorded sighting of Miss Champion, as she bought a packet of crisps and carton of milk in the shop just after 5pm on Thursday, July 3.

The milk carton was found next to her decomposed body and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen Miss Champion after she made her purchase.

The footage was released at a press conference at the police headquarters in Maidstone. Officers are concentrating their inquiries on the hour after Miss Champion was seen leaving the post office.

Det Chief Insp Dean Barnes said: “As yet, we have been unable to establish a motive and that’s a key issue for this inquiry.

“We would like to speak to anybody in the South Willesborough post office just prior to 5pm on July 3 or just after - that was the day that Tim Henman’s Wimbledon match was postponed due to rain.”

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact the incident room on 01303 289600.
