A FACTORY worker was today jailed for murder - on the day his victim would have celebrated her 22nd birthday.

James Ford, 27, of Hunter Avenue, Willesborough, near Ashford, was given a life sentence by a judge at Maidstone Crown Court.

Ford had admitted killing Amanda Champion last July. Her decomposed body was found on wasteground in Ashford some three weeks after she was last seen alive.

There were cries of "yes" from members of her family who sat in the public gallery. They chanted "rot" as Ford was lead down from the dock.
