Amazon locker planned for Co-op store in Kennington, Ashford

Shoppers could soon be able to pick up their Amazon parcels from outside a repainted Co-op store.

Bosses at the grocery chain have asked Ashford Borough Council for permission to install a self-service locker at the front of their shop in Kennington.

It is part of a number of changes planned for the Faversham Road site – which include putting sleeping policemen in the parking bays and painting the shopfront grey.

Store managers also want to cut down part of the hedgerow at the side of the car park and extend the pavement at the junction with Tudor Road.

If approved, the Amazon locker will provide customers using the online retailer with an alternative delivery option.

Once their package is ready to be picked up, customers will receive an email featuring a barcode that they will be able to scan at the locker.

Some restrictions apply – including the item's size and weight – and shoppers will have three days to pick up their parcel.
