Man arrested on suspicion of GBH after scissor attack in High Street, Ashford

Part of a town centre was cordoned off this afternoon after police were called to reports of a man being attacked with scissors.

Officers taped off a section of the High Street in Ashford just after 2.30pm.

The victim, who was thought to have known his attacker, was left with cuts to his arm.

A man, aged 27, has been arrested.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 2.37pm to a report that a man had suffered injuries to his arm after being assaulted with a pair of scissors in High Street, Ashford.

"Officers attended and arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

"The suspect and victim are believed to be known to one another.

"The victim has been taken to hospital."

The spokesman said officers remained in the area this evening "carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident".
