Ring doorbell catches badger robbing food from bin in Ashford

The moment a mischievous badger knocks over a bin for a midnight snack has been caught on camera.

The furry thief was caught on doorbell-camera swiping snacks from a food bin in Aldington, near Ashford.

The badger is caught in the act

The night-time footage shows the sneaky omnivore wandering into the front garden in between several large black bins.

It then spies the smaller, orange-topped food waste bin sitting vunerable on the floor, and wastes no time in knocking it over.

The striped pilferer then takes its time rummaging through the contents until the motion-sensor shuts off.

Resident Peter Morris-Kelso couldn't miss the commotion, and looking back at his doorbell footage saw a familiar face peaking back at him.

"I usually keep the food bin on top of one of the wheelie bins, as the little tyke is a regular visitor round here," he explained.

"The one night I forgot to put it up and he pops around for a midnight snack."

This is not the first time a badger has made headlines in the Ashford area.

Last year, a portly brock had to be rescued by the RSPCA after a Godinton resident found him stuck in a fence.

Escaped animals, unusual finds and news from the RSPCA can all be found here.
