Kent Fire and Rescue Service tackles barn fire in Old Ashford Road, Charing

A barn containing 200 tonnes of straw is on fire in Charing.

Three fire engines rushed to Old Ashford Road this morning to tackle the blaze, which has now been brought under control but is still burning.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters are in attendance at a fire in a large barn containing approximately 200 tonnes of straw in Old Ashford Road, Charing.

"The fire is being allowed to burn out under controlled conditions while crews with covering jets and water from a bulk water carrier monitor the incident and carry out a watching brief."
