Body found in search for Ashford man Sam Smythson

A search for a missing man has been called off after police discovered a body.

Officers attempting to locate Ashford man Sam Smythson found his body in Kingsnorth Woods at about 7.45am.

An appeal was put out to the public to help find Mr Smythson, 20, who was last seen in the Bond Road area of his home town at about 6.15pm yesterday.

The former John Wallis Academy pupil worked for the Premier Foods company, which has a factory in Kennington Road.

Yesterday evening, the police helicopter was seen hovering over the town and police confirmed it was in relation to the search.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, however Mr Smythson's family have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
