Body found in woodland near Ashford in search for missing Christopher Fisher

The body of a man has been found in woodland during the search for autistic Christopher Fisher, who has been missing for more than a week.

Police were called at 2.35pm yesterday to the report of a man's body found in woodland near Smarden Road, Smarden, near Ashford.

While formal identification is yet to take place the family of missing man Christopher Fisher, who was reported missing on August 9, has been informed.

Police said Mr Fisher, 31, was distressed when he went missing in or around Dering Woods near Pluckley, Ashford.

Officers and ambulance crews attended yesterday and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesman said: "The man’s death is being treated as non-suspicious and a report will be completed for the coroner."
