A bus passenger was arrested on suspicion of racial abuse and assaulting a police officer following an incident in Ashford.

Police were called to New Street close to the Barnardo's charity shop following reports of a disturbance.

They arrested a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences and assaulting a police officer.

She is currently in police custody following the incident, which happened yesterday afternoon at about 4pm.
