Ashford: Car fire in the Finberry is being treated as suspicious

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack which completely destroyed a car and left another one damaged.

Fire crews were called to the new Finberry estate in Ashford following reports of a blaze.

Residents described hearing laughter and footsteps at the time of the incident in Harrier Drive at about 3am on Wednesday morning.

A Vauxhall Astra was completely destroyed, while an Audi was also damaged.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended the scene to assist the fire service where two cars and a gate were damaged during the fire.

"There were no reported injuries and the fire is being treated as suspicious.

"A number of inquiries have been carried out to establish how it was caused and any witnesses are encouraged to contact police."
