Developers scrap plans to build a power station next to Flip out in the Henwood Industrial Estate

Plans to build a power station on an industrial estate to help ease pressures on the National Grid have been withdrawn.

Henwood Power Ltd applied for planning permission to build the station next to the Flip Out indoor trampoline centre on the Henwood Industrial Estate in Ashford.

Construction of the plant would have taken about six months, with four jobs created once operational.

The proposed site is next to Flip out.

But now the company has withdrawn its plans, which would have seen a former cold store turned into the low-carbon electricity reserve.

Residents had raised concerns over the environmental impact of the development, as well as its close proximity to Flip Out.

Planning agent Lichfields was contacted for comment but did not respond.
