A 45-year-old dispatch manager is facing a long jail sentence after admitting a catalogue of sex offences involving two young girls.

Harold McCann, of Luddenham Close, Stanhope, Ashford, pleaded guilty at Canterbury Crown Court to two charges of rape and two of indecent assault, all involving the same girl.

The offences took place between November 1992 and November 1994, starting when the girl was six.

McCann also admitted five charges of raping a second girl under 16 between August 2000 and September this year.

His denial of a further serious sexual offence against the first girl was accepted by the prosecution, which offered no evidence for that allegation.

McCann was remanded in custody until December 22 for pre-sentence reports.

Judge Adele Williams said this did not mean he would receive anything other than a long jail sentence.
