Dog breeder's threat to rip out policeman's eye

A 34-year-old dog breeder told a policeman he would rip his eye out and eat it when he was arrested after a brawl, a court heard.

Police saw Kevin Rogers punch a man and kick him during a fight involving about eight people on Ashford’s ring road on May 14 last year.

Rogers, of Cedar Close, Godinton Park, Ashford, appeared before the town's magistrates with his brother Paul, 24, and Daniel Major, 23. The three were convicted of using threatening behaviour. Kevin Rogers was also convicted of assaulting a police officer.

Prosecutor Sara Pilcher said Rogers swore at one of the officers after being arrested. His brother, of Whitfield Road, South Ashford, and Major, of Cleves Way, South Ashford, tried to attack the officer and Paul Rogers was arrested.

Kevin Rogers headbutted another officer.

Paul Rogers, who has previous convictions for racially aggravated threatening behaviour and criminal damage, was given an 18-month supervision order and ordered to attend a drug rehabilitation programme.

Major, who has a previous conviction for drunk and disorderly behaviour, was given a two-year supervision order.

Both men were also ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid community work and pay £200 costs.

Kevin Rogers, who has no previous convictions, will be sentenced on January 23.
