Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk helps Ashford Prep School pupils and staff celebrate the end of year

Staff and pupils at an Ashford school have revealed their funny side by creating a hilarious music video to hit song Uptown Funk.

The ‘straight masterpiece’ has been put on YouTube by the Ashford Prep School and was produced as an end of year video for the Year 6s.

It features most of the Prep school staff and children from Nursery years to Year 6 and took a day to make.

The music video opens with smooth mover headteacher Richard Yeates ‘break it down’ in his office.

He then joins two women for a boogie in a corridor, where he removes his tie and swings it above his head.

The video then goes on to show other members of staff, plus pupils, dancing throughout the school and its grounds.

One scene features the Prep School's Housekeeper Janet Endicott, who is in her 60s, dancing on the stairs flanked by pupils.

A grand finale shows everyone come together in front of the school’s entrance.

The short film was uploaded to Youtube on Saturday and so far has been viewed more than 350 times.

It was also put on the school’s Facebook page, where it received 26 ‘likes’ and was shared 11 times.

The school, based in Great Chart, say they have received "hugely positive" feedback on the video so far.

Deputy head, Penny Willetts said: “People love the fact that Ashford Prep is a very happy and adventurous school where everyone is challenged to push themselves – especially if that means moving out of their comfort zone."

"Our ethos is all about embracing life and the opportunities it has to offer.

"Staff model this approach to the pupils and this video is one example of it.

"It was great fun to make – it brings the whole school together and shows the spirit we have at Ashford!”

Uptown Funk, by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, spent seven weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart.

Ashford Prep is not the only school in Kent to create a music video.

Pupils and staff at Spring Grove School, in Wye, filmed and starred in a video set to an original track, titled SG Swings.

The clip features the school’s own song, which was written and composed by the children.
