Driver dies after car hits verge in fatal crash at Small Hythe Road in Tenterden

A man in his 70s died when his car struck a grass verge and ended up in a ditch at Tenterden earlier today.

The driver was taken to the William Harvey Hospital following the crash in Small Hythe Road at around 3.15pm, but later died.

No vehicles other than the blue Citroen C3 were involved in the crash near Small Hythe Cricket Ground.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now investigating the circumstances of the crash.

PC Simon Masterson said: "There were no other vehicles or persons involved and it is possible that the driver suffered a major medical problem in the moments leading up to the collision."
