Drivers are to face a two-mile diversion until the end of the week as work continues on the A20.
Southern Water has been carrying out works in Hythe Road in Ashford - between Junction 10a of the M20 and Tesco Crooksfoot roundabout - since last month.
Traffic lights have been installed outside the Hinxhill Park estate at the entrance to Honeysuckle Avenue while engineers carry out repairs.
It has meant Hythe Road has been closed Ashford-bound on the route, with drivers forced to use A2070 and Bad Munstereifel Road to access the supermarket.
Meanwhile, long delays have been plaguing hundreds of motorists heading towards the motorway in the opposite direction.
However, Southern Water says work is to continue for the remainder of the week, with the road returning to normal on Saturday.
A spokesman said: “Our teams are on site repairing a rising main on the Hythe Road.
“Work has already started and is scheduled to be complete in early November.
“One lane is closed for our engineers to carry out the repair safely.
“There are diversions in place and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused to commuters.”
