Firefighters remain at an Ashford tip, which caught fire this afternoon.
Crews were called to a blaze at the Household Waste Recycling Centre on Brunswick Road at 2.30pm.
Having located the fire, water jets were used to extinguish the flames.
It was put out by 3.22pm, but teams remain on the scene to ensure there are no more hotspots.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
A message on the centre's website reads: "The Ashford HWRC is currently closed due to an incident on site. We apologise for any inconvenience."
It came on the hottest day of the year so far, with Kent sizzling in 30C heat.
The nearest alternative household waste recycling centre is on Ross Way in Shorncliffe, Folkestone.
