It is reported to have taken place overnight between 10pm and 6.05am the following day.

Police have issued a reminder to residents not to leave keys on display following the burglary.

Investigating officer Det Con Kirsty Gee said: "It is believed that the offenders got into the home by reaching through the letterbox and turning the key which was left in the door.

"It is an unusual method to steal but we are asking people to avoid leaving their house or car keys on display when they go to bed to make it tougher for any opportunistic burglars."

As part of Kent Police’s campaign against burglary this winter, officers are reminding people to review the security of their homes and take simple steps to help deter burglars.
