Ashford ring-road junction closed after pedestrian hit by a car

A key junction in Ashford town centre was partially blocked after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

Emergency services were called to the ring road at around 5pm.

Police and ambulance crews attended the accident, which involved one car and a pedestrian.

It happened at the junction of Somerset Road and Canterbury Road.

A black Volkswagen UP was involved and police said no one had been seriously hurt.

A police spokesman said: "At 4.57pm, officers on patrol in Ashford came across a collision between a car and a pedestrian in North Street, Ashford.

"South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and, at present, no serious injuries have been reported."

Police remained at the scene to carry out enquiries, but as of 6.30pm the road had been cleared.
