Old Prince of Wales pub on New Street, Ashford boarded up after a month

The future of a town centre pub hangs in the balance after an interim tenant lasted just over a month at the premises.

Following the departure of the previous tenants POW UK Ltd in June, experienced landlord Jason Davison took over the Old Prince of Wales pub in New Street, Ashford on July 16.

Mr Davison had suggested that he "could be here from three months to a year" upon moving into the New Street watering hole.

However the landlord, who'd promised to 'wake up' the outside and change the carpets, boarded up the venture on August 27.

Now, pub owner Ei Group Plc is assessing what will happen next.

A spokesman for Ei Publican Partnerships said: “We can confirm the Old Prince of Wales is currently closed while we consider our options to determine the future of this pub.

"Our priority is always to seek the best opportunity for the local community.”
