Kent Fire and Rescue Service tackles lorry alight on M20 London-bound between junction 9 for Ashford and 8 for Hollingbourne, near Maidstone

Firefighters tackled a lorry fire on the London-bound carriageway of the M20 this morning.

Crews were called at 8.20am after the vehicle caught light between junction 9 for Ashford and junction 8 for Hollingbourne, near Maidstone.

The blaze, believed to have been caused by the HGV's brakes overheating, was out by 8.50am.

However, the Highways Agency has warned drivers a lane of the motorway is still blocked.
