Lorry topples over and lands in field close to Eastwell Manor hotel in Ashford

A lorry toppled over and landed in a field after the French driver tried to avoid another truck heading in the opposite direction.

The HGV rolled onto its side on the A251 Faversham Road close to Eastwell Manor hotel in Boughton Aluph, Ashford.

Firefighters were called just after 1pm as there were fears the driver was trapped, but crews did not need to cut him free.

They left the scene at 1.30pm.

The driver was uninjured.

The A251 is part of a diversion route for drivers avoiding the Operation Stack closure on the M20, linking Ashford with the M2.
