Starting on Tuesday, the closure will only affect nights during the week and not the weekend, meaning the last night of closures will be on Thursday May 13.

Works will be carried out on the stretch of carriageway between Junction 9 and Junction 10, and last from 9pm until 6am.

Several diversions will be in place due to the works.

Traffic for the Port of Dover will be diverted at Junction 7 and follow Sittingbourne Road to join the M2, before carrying along there and the A2 to the port.

Local traffic will be diverted at Juntion 9 to join the A20 onto Chart Road.

From there, the diversion will lead traffic through the B2229, A2042, and A2070 to rejoin the motorway at Junction 10a.

A Highways England spokesman said: "We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption you may experience during this work."

This is the second time the motorway has faced overnight closures in the area in recent weeks, after both carriageways were closed to allow for Operation Brock's removal.
