Operation Brock M20 contraflow open in both directions between Junction 8 and Junction 9

The contraflow system on the M20 between Ashford and Leeds Castle has now fully reopened – meaning all motorists can travel on the major route in both directions.

Between Junction 8 and 9, two lanes are running London-bound and two lanes are operating coastbound.

It is the first time in almost a week that drivers have been able to travel in both directions on the 15-mile stretch.

All vehicles are using the Operation Brock contraflow system on the London-bound side, while the proper coastbound route from Junction 8 remains shut to just HGVs.

Drivers in the contraflow face the usual 50mph limit and narrower lanes.

The M20 had been shut to coastbound traffic since December 23, but with the lorry backlog easing, the contraflow has now fully reopened.

HGVs heading for the Port of Dover are directed to leave the M20 at Junction 7 where they must go to Manston Airport for release to the port.

HGVs wishing to use Eurotunnel continue on the M20, following the signs to leave the M20 at Junction 8, where they will be directed to join Operation Brock.

Although testing facilities are available at Manston and on the M20, hauliers are advised to get a Covid test before entering Kent if possible.
