Man 'assaulted' in Pluckley Road, near Charing Heath Road junction

A man in his 20s suffered facial injuries after he was allegedly assaulted at the roadside.

It happened in a lay-by in Pluckley Road, Charing, near the junction with Charing Heath Road.

A man reportedly got out of a vehicle and assaulted the victim - who required hospital treatment for facial injuries.

When a passer-by intervened during the assault, the victim was helped into a car by a woman known to him and able to leave the area.

The attack happened at around 11am on Friday.

Officers arrested a 21-year-old in connection with the incident, who has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Investigating officer PC Kerry Akast said: "We believe other cars were in the area so we would like to speak to anyone who was travelling past at the time, or parked nearby and saw something which might assist our investigation.

"We would also like to speak to the man who intervened during the assault."
