Suspect, 32, accused of sexual offences after police descend on car park at Eureka Place, off Trinity Road in Kennington, Ashford

A man has been taken into custody after armed police descended on a car park.

Five police vehicles were pictured at Eureka Place – a small shopping complex off Trinity Road, in Kennington, Ashford – shortly after 5pm last night.

A dog unit was also spotted along with armed officers.

Kent Police has now confirmed a man in his 30s was arrested and taken into custody.

A spokeswoman said: “Following the stop of a vehicle in Trinity Road, Ashford at 5.25pm on Wednesday, a 32-year-old man was arrested by officers investigating a report of sexual offences and threatening behaviour.

“He remains in custody.”

Eureka Place is home to a Tesco branch, pub, medical centre and nursery.
