Man in hospital after bridge fall

A MAN is recovering in hospital after throwing himself from a motorway bridge in Ashford.

The man, who police are still trying to identify, leaped from the A28 Canterbury Road bridge on to the M20 between junctions 9 and 10 at 2.50pm on Monday.

Police spokesman Rosy Alexander said: “He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.”

Officers closed the motorway London-bound for 40 minutes and put temporary speed restrictions in place on the coastbound carriageway.

Canterbury Road was also closed for a period of time. All roads are now re-opened.
