Child and driver in hospital after two-car crash on A20 at Mersham

A child and a driver are both still in hospital after a serious crash on the A20 yesterday.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash involving two cars at Mersham at just after 3pm.

The crash involved a grey Ford EcoSport and a black BMW 535d.

The Ford EcoSport was being driven by a man in his 30s and had three passengers – a woman and two children.

One child was taken to a London hospital with head injuries where they remain in a stable condition.

The other occupants were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

The BMW was being driven by a man in his 50s, who was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. He remains in a stable condition.

Investigating officer Police Constable Dave Jeeves from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision or the vehicles beforehand and have yet to speak to officers.

"We are also keen to speak to the occupants of a blue and silver Nissan 4x4 who may have witnessed the collision."
