Shortly afterwards, the white van moved to a nearby car park Kimberly Walk.

Officers are working with Trading Standards to establish the origin and legitimacy of the products after seizing six TVs.

Inspector Jason Atkinson said: "I would like to urge shoppers not to be taken in by dubious deals in the run up to Christmas.

"These televisions were wrapped in bubble-wrap and were not boxed, as you would expect them to be if they were genuine items for sale, and the instructions were poor quality photocopies.

"All this should sound warning alarms to shoppers that the so-called bargains could be fakes, seconds, faulty or even stolen. Because if something seems too good to be true, it almost certainly is."

Police have not received any reports from people who had purchased the televisions from the men.

Inspector Atkinson added: "If you did buy a television please come forward because you may be able to provide important information about the incident or help support a potential prosecution."

Police are warning shoppers to be cautious and to contact them on 01843 222289 quoting reference 09-0926 if you noticed anything suspicious.
