Teenager pushed to the ground and repeatedly punched by muggers at Jemmett Road, Ashford

Muggers viciously attacked a teenager, pushing him to the ground and punching him in the face several times.

It was thought he was talking on his phone when he was set upon.

The robbers took both the phone and his bag.

It happened at Jemmett Road, near Victoria Park, at around 8pm last Thursday.

A police spokesman said: "It was reported the victim was approached by a group of boys after leaving a nearby park.

"He was thought to have been talking on his phone at the time and, as he walked over a bridge, was pushed to the floor and punched in the face multiple times.

The victim managed to run away from the area."

Police arrested four boys on suspicion of robbery after they were found at Ashford International Station at around 9pm the same day.

A 17-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and two teenagers, aged 16 have been released under investigation.

Detectives investigating want witnesses to come forward.
