Salata salad bar to open in Bank Street, Ashford, this month

A new salad bar is set to open this month in place of a former dessert shop.

Salata is the new name for the eatery, which is due to fill the spot previously occupied by Just Desserts in Bank Street, Ashford.

It comes after the dessert shop closed last year after almost three years of trading.

Havva Aykac, who runs Luxe Cosmetics in New Rents and Ayten Yilmaz, who owns By The Tank Cafe in New Street are behind the business-venture.

The owners have promised to bring something "new, fresh and different" to the town.

"I saw a gap in the market in Ashford as there is nowhere to go for a healthy lunch," Mrs Aykac said.

"We've been discussing it for a while, and my business partner has got 20 plus years experience in catering.

"It is inspired by healthy salad bars in London.

"We just want to bring something new, fresh and different to the town."

The new business will offer salad boxes, wraps, coffees, herbal teas and smoothies.

The food will be available to order on Deliveroo - which launched in the town last month.

She added: "We will also have an option to build your own salad box and the fillings will include salmon, chicken, roasted vegetables, hummus and spinach.

"We will probably introduce a kids salad box too, as we have had a lot of interest in this.

"The interior is going to be very different and we are going to have a green, flower feature wall where people can get photographs."
