Property in Beaver Road, Ashford, damaged as burglars steal clothes

Pictures show how burglars left a huge hole in a door following a raid of a property.

Police were called to Beaver Road, Ashford, shortly before 10pm on Sunday following reports of an incident near Godfrey Walk.

Images sent to KentOnline show damage was also caused to walls inside the abandoned building.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of burglary and alter admitted to stealing clothes fro inside the property.

Neighbour Paul Hayward said: “Living next door with a lot of kids, it makes me annoyed and sad that anyone would even do it.

“There were two doors like that and a smashed window.

“People need to know that this place is being watched and looked after.”

Police say they were called at 9.50am and located two people inside the “disused property”.

A spokesperson added: “Both were arrested on suspicion of burglary [and] following enquiries were issued with a community resolution after admitting to taking clothing inside the building.”

The property has been derelict for more than 10 years, having previously been the home of Parkinson Auctioneers.
